After launching the APNEA.cz website in May 2007, I was rather surprised by the percentage of failed attempts to register to the Apnea Training Manager (ATM). Many freedivers, amazingly also many upper level competitors among them, had problems passing the registration quiz. The quiz was originally written because I did not want to let people with no knowledge about risks in freediving using the training manager and possibly harming themselves.
I selected basic question for verifying the security awareness, but unfortunately it looks like even many trained freedivers do not know the theory very well. And although I definitely do not want to give away any direct tips for answering the quiz questions, and warn ATM users against publishing the question, or tips for answering them, and although there is a lot of literature available, I think that a brief document summarizing diverse security aspects of freediving, and linking available resources, is needed.
I plan writing a series of articles about topics questioned in the ATM Quiz, and posting them in this section. I certainly welcome comments, additions, or entire articles from other freedivers.
